Currently, 1 in 4 children and adolescents wil experience episodes of serious anxiety and depression this year. Suicide is the leading cause of death among Australians aged 15–24 and an increasing number are presenting to Emergency Departments (EDs) in a state of acute distress. Many people simply don’t know how to help when young people are struggling.
Equi Energy Youth will build capacity in the communities by coaching effective responses to support young people, helping to reduce psychological distress, self harm, and the risk of suicide. We aim to eliminate budget cuts as a barrier for schools and community organisations, enabling them to access Coach2Cope: TAR3.
Our Campaign: Small yet powerful donations can transform how youth mental health is supported in schools and communities. Newcastle has the power to create statewide equity by supporting the Coach 2 Cope initiative, bringing essential resources to schools and families, from Merewether to the Broken Hil.
With 15,489 businesses registered in the Greater Newcastle area, there’s a tremendous opportunity for local companies to make a meaningful impact on youth mental health. By partnering with Coach 2 Cope, businesses can contribute to a cause that not only supports the community but also addresses the critical issue of youth mental health.
By recruiting just 1% of the 15,489 businesses, we can achieve significant, lasting change in youth mental health across NSW.
