Currently, 1 in 4 children and adolescents will experience episodes of serious anxiety and depression this year. Suicide is the leading cause of death among Australians aged 15–24 and an increasing number are presenting to Emergency Departments (EDs) in a state of acute distress. Many people simply don’t know how to help when young people are struggling.

Friends of EEY Campaign

Friends of EEY is a community of caring individuals and organisations who want to stand alongside us in creating positive change for youth mental health across Newcastle and the Hunter region.

With public and private services stretched beyond capacity, families, parents, grandparents, and carers need access to practical, evidence-based tools. Our TAR3 framework is like the DR ABC of psychological first aid—a simple, structured way to respond when a young person is in distress.

By joining Friends of EEY, you’ll be helping to:

• FREE evidence-based training for parents, carers & guardians
  
• FREE access to parent and Care app
  
• Further development of FREE app and community implementation
  

In turn reducing pressure on crisis services, hospitals, and mental health waitlists.

Every contribution whether monthly or yearly goes directly towards equipping families with the knowledge and confidence they need, right when their children need them most.
